Review for Perfect Ruin by Lauren Destefano!

“If you’ve never been afraid, then you haven’t had your moment of bravery yet.”

“I can love only what I have experienced.”

I read this with a pair of wonderful ladies and it was not what I expected at all. It was creative and had me intrigued at every turn! It definitely had a unique plot and even more unique characters, I don’t know who I liked best, to be honest.
Although, Basil was pretty amazing. He’s so loyal and compassionate, it’s hard not to yearn for his next words. (I’m finding myself missing him a lot) I love how he treats Margaret. It’s definitely a dream relationship.
I also love how a dead character is one of the most important ones in this story. I always love it when an author pulls that off. It adds something captivating to the already unique plot. She had so many interesting things to say I wish I could just type it all down in this box. Anyway, I won’t. You’re going to have to read this for yourself!
I definitely need to know what happens next!

Review for Tell Me You Love Me by Julie Prestsater!

Where do I even start!? This book is everything.
Okay, so I’ve been waiting since March to have this book in my hands and I finally received it last night. Now, considering how much I had to wait… being in the same room with it and not reading it was impossible. So of course, I read it in a day. Let me tell you, the wait was so worth it!! It kept me grinning from ear to ear all the way.
This is my second book by Julie and it just deepened my love for her writing. This is the first firefighter novel I have read and boy, am I addicted now. This book succeeded in making forget about the world and reeling me in as if I was part of the story. (I could only be so lucky, I mean c’mon: Firefighters!)
It’s impossible not to relate to the main character, Lizzy (as Ryan likes to call her). Women that see themselves as ‘not good enough’ and book nerds alike will agree with me. Who doesn’t love a book where the characters love to read as much as the reader? Especially when there are book clubs in the equation, I’m in!
So, in comes Ryan… My life!! He has a heart of gold worthy of the swooniest swoon and a body worthy of being in covers all around the world. Every woman needs a man like him in their lives. I can’t even begin to tell you how much he made me tear up with his beautiful words… and they weren’t even directed at me. Thanks a lot, Julie. Now all I can think about is the fact that I don’t have a Ryan in my life. I will keep waiting for him though, mark my words.
Lizzy’s relationship with Ryan is the one I will compare every relationship I come across from now on. Real and fictional, all of them. I absolutely love these two together! The pace their relationship takes is perfect!
I’ve never been in SO MUCH NEED to get my hands on the second book to a series before. I called that epilogue but even then, it didn’t take away from the experience of officially reading it!! It was a bombshell but SO SATISFYINGLY UNSATISFYING!!! I need more!! And goddamn I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fangirl hard in my room… I’m definitely going to stalk Julie’s every move now. AH!! JULIE!!
I hope it comes out soon because I’m going insane… I don’t even know what day I’m on any more.

This book was intriguing from the very first page and full of humor! You follow the main character as she learns about a world she never knew she was a part of and the twists just kept coming! This was a fast, easy read and I thoroughly enjoyed this so much! The emotions the main character, Zadie, goes through are very much believable for someone still in high school. The plot stays true to the character’s ages and experiences.
Anybody that knows me knows how much I love the darker aspects of life and this book definitely had that! I liked how the suspense just kept building up with every page.
I seriously loved the friendship Zadie had with Naomi. I believed every second of it and I knew they would do anything for each other. I’m just glad I have the second book at hand. I’m dying to know what’s going to happen next!

“Be proud of the fabric of who you are.”
If I had to choose one single sentence that describes what I learned from this book, that quote would be it. This is a magnificent book and I am so proud to have read it. It’s been a long journey but that doesn’t mean I enjoyed it any less than I would a short one. This book wasn’t only enjoyable, it was truly a learning experience. It’s extremely detail oriented and this was one of those rare books that successfully painted a picture in my mind without any effort in my part. Thomas’ intellect flows into ever word and it’s difficult not to put him in the same pedestal that Susan puts Robert.
This book makes you think from the very first word. It makes you question everything you know, even about yourself. To be honest, I needed this book. If you want your life to be turned on its axis, then this is the book for you. It definitely had a massive impact on me. It goes without saying that this book isn’t meant to read quickly, but to be cherished. Although, I must admit that when I reached the last part of the book, I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. It was so intense and it had me super emotional.
The main character journeys through an outstanding development rarely seen in today’s books. I was definitely proud of being able to read about it. She’s so empowering that I couldn’t help but feel the same way. This story will always be close to my heart and even now I feel like a piece of me is missing. I miss it that much. I’ve got to say, this felt more like an autobiography since a large part of me believed all of it was true.
Also, Charles was pretty badass. That man is something else!
All I have to say is… where is this Montgomery building and where do I apply?

“In death even our flaws are raised up on golden pedestals.”
Six. Stars!! (again)
God, I love Stacey Rourke’s characters so much! I fell in love with book 1 and now I have fallen for book 2!! The characters that were introduced in this one were amazing as well! Especially Edgar! He can make the hardest of hearts swoon into a puddle at his magnificent feet. And Ridley. Oh, don’t even get me started. He can hold MY hand all he wants. Rourke is a master when it comes to creating the most amazing male characters (Noah too) and of course, a badass female lead.
The darkest of known tales clash together into a morbid story with intoxicating twists. I love the way Stacey brings together two separate lives, one in the past and one in the present, without making it confusing. In the contrary, it makes me the plot flow with it’s intended chaos and tragedy. There’s also so much humor that had me busting out laughing every single time. I love these books so much! I can’t even begin to write it all down.
The twists kept coming full force and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! There was heartbreak and tragedy at every turn that added so much soul to the story. I teared up so much for so many reasons, I’m too attached to this series.
I can’t wait for book 3!

Review for Cirque Du Mort by Anastasia Catris

Anastasia is an amazing find! Oh, my goodness. She is so incredibly talented, it leaves me speechless!!
This volume is packed with incredibly stunning illustrations and back stories. I love anything freakshow related and Anastasia captured it all so perfectly. There’s tragedy after tragedy in every page that kept me wanting to read more! Anastasia shows so much diversity from story to story and it’s intoxicating! I loved them all so much I seriously can’t choose a favorite. The newspaper clippings bring it to life even more than the illustrations already were. This didn’t feel like a comic at all. I felt like it was an actual pamphlet I received upon entering the grounds of Cirque Du Mort. (Oh, how I wish to visit this place… and ‘live’ in it.) I am definitely a proud owner of this gem! It speaks to my love and appreciation for all things morbid to the letter. I love how you can keep picking this up and find something new to lust over every single time. I can’t wait for volume 2!!
Anastasia is definitely an author to follow and her Etsyย store is just phenomenal!

Review for The Revealing by Dexx Peay

*Copy provided in exchange for an honest review*
Let’s start off with why I didn’t like it. The grammar was… more than difficult to get through. The characters don’t really have depth to them. I felt like it dragged, you rarely see the world they’re supposed to come from. I really couldn’t get into it. The super powers seem to be in the backseat and the story line only focuses on their school and relationship drama. I honestly didn’t know what was going on half of the time. They seem to like one girl one second and another one in the other. The action scenes and other things are too random to enjoy.
It was a good concept but lacked in the execution.
What I did love were the relationships these two guys had with their siblings. Their hearts were mostly in the right place and it was hard not to admire them for that. Everybody should learn a lesson from them and cherish their siblings like they do. They take friendships seriously too.
The ending was quite an unexpected turn of events though. I hope the second book focuses more on the supernatural and not on girls.
